MELBOURNE,' June 4.
A man was killed and two other per- sons seriously injured when â motor- car in which they were 'travelling was struck by a train on the Bunyip railway crossing yesterday. The victims were:
Killed
John Thomas Argus (55), farmer, of Bunyip.
Injured
Thelma Argus (10), daughter of J. T. Argus; fractured skull and shock.
Martin Breheney ' (22), farmer, of Bunyip, the driver of the car; cerebral haemorrhage, concussion, and shock.
Breheney is believed-to have seen the train as he approached the crossing, but his brake failed to hold and the car'was struck near the front of the engine. Argus was killed instantly and his daughter and Breheney were thrown nearly 30ft. clear of the line. The car

Departed London via Cork on 17 April 1844 on "Lord William Bentinck". Arrived Port Phillip Bay VIC AUS on 22 August 1844.
The "Lord William Bentinck" was a Barque of 443 tons which was constructed of wood in 1828 at Yarmouth England. Its hull was sheathed in metal and restored in 1833. Its home port was London. - Lloyds Register 1844
Worked as a labourer.
The Port Phillip (Mouritz) Directory of 1847 indicates that "Thomas Argus, labourer, and his wife Edith Veale Argus, dress maker, were living in Little Brunswick Street Collingwood.
Early 1850's moved to District bounded by Merri and Darebin Creeks.
