Below are what I believe are the burials for John Bassett and Anne (Blythe) Bassett.
Burial: At Tetcott on 7 Mar 1830, Ann Bassett "Brain Fever"
Burial: At Tetcott on 31 Jul 1831, John Bassett
Based on this the Basset children were left without parents when Mary was about 10 years old which is reflected in the 1841 census where the parents are not to be found and the children are spread out a bit.
I have found Mary Basset aged 15 (she would still have been 19 so rounded down to 15 as was the norm in 1841) at Blagdon which is about 2km west of North Tamerton and only about 1km from Willsworthy where John Argus was an apprentice. So I believe this close proximity is how the couple met rather than John traveling for work of for Bible Christian meetings. Mary's elder brother Thomas and his wife were just another km away Haydon Her younger sister was at Ashwater, Devon.
