On 13 April 1868 at the TREWIN homestead, "Clifford", the Rev Joseph Teague, the local Bible Christian minister, performed a double wedding ceremony for William Bassett ARGUS and his bride Mary Ann TREWIN and for William TREWIN and his bride Matilda ARGUS.
Quarryman and farmer of Mt Moriac VIC. Bailliere's Directory of 1875 lists him as a farmer at Morang. Inherited 320 acres at Tallygaroopna VIC in 1890.

SHEPPARTON ADVERTISER 4/2/1910... We regret to have to record the death of Mr. William Bassett Argus, an old and highly-respected resident of the Tallygaroopna district which took place at his residence, York, W.A., on January 18. Deceased was born in Melbourne, and was one of the first to operate at Tallygaroopna in 1875, when the land was thrown open for selection. He was a resident of the district until about 18 months ago, when he retired from farming pursuits. He leaves a grown-up family, all of whom are well known and highly respected throug hout the district. His married sisters are Mrs W. Bowey, Tallygaroopna and Mrs. J. Caldwell, Shepparton whilst a brother Mr. J. T. Argus resides in West Australia. His age at the time of death was 66 years. 11,37
